Mike Tyson‘s much-awaited return to the boxing ring is now set for November 15, after his match against Jake Paul was pushed back. Initially planned for July 20, the bout was rescheduled when Tyson faced a health setback, suffering from an ulcer during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26. Feeling dizzy and nauseous, Tyson needed immediate medical attention.
Thankfully, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the organizers of the event, have confirmed the new date in November. The big showdown will still happen at the iconic AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which can hold 80,000 fans, and Netflix will exclusively stream the event.
Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP, shared that the extra time was necessary to ensure both fighters, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, could prepare adequately. “We’ve ensured both fighters have the time they need to train hard for this epic showdown, keeping it at the vibrant AT&T Stadium during the Cowboys’ busy season,” said Bidarian.
At 57, Tyson is stepping back into the ring professionally for the first time since 2005, having last appeared in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020. He faces the much younger Jake Paul, a 27-year-old who rose to fame through social media and later turned to boxing, co-founding MVP.
Paul, supportive of the delay, emphasized the fairness in preparation time. “New date, same place, same outcome,” he declared on social media, upbeat about the rescheduled match.
Adding to the excitement, the event will also feature a blockbuster rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. Dubbed the most eagerly awaited rematch in women’s boxing, Taylor defends her lightweight titles after a narrow victory at their last encounter at a packed Madison Square Garden.
