The Spanish Tennis Federation has announced that Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz will compete together in the men’s doubles at the Paris Olympics. The event is set for July 27 to August 3 on the famous clay courts of Roland-Garros. Nadal, with 14 French Open titles, is a two-time Olympic champion, while Alcaraz recently celebrated his first French Open victory.
Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz last played at the French Open, where Nadal was defeated by Alexander Zverev in the first round, and Alcaraz took home his first title at Roland-Garros. Alcaraz, who grew up idolizing Nadal, now has the chance to win a gold medal with his hero. Spain’s captain David Ferrer confirmed, “Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris.”
The men’s doubles tournament will be held at Roland-Garros from July 27 to August 3, where the Spanish duo will be among the favorites. Known as ‘The King of Clay,’ Nadal aims to win his third gold medal in what he has hinted might be his final season. He previously won singles gold at the 2008 Beijing Games and doubles gold with Marc Lopez in 2016.
