Marchand and Geekie Lead Bruins to 4-2 Win Over Blackhawks

Brad Marchand and Morgan Geekie each scored two goals, leading the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night. This win marked the Bruins’ third consecutive victory, continuing their strong performance after a 3-2 overtime win against Detroit the previous night.

Boston’s goalie Jeremy Swayman made 20 saves to help secure the win, while Petr Mrazek stopped 23 shots for Chicago. The Blackhawks, who have struggled recently, suffered their fourth consecutive loss. Alex Vlasic and Jason Dickinson scored for Chicago in the defeat.

The game was tied 1-1 early in the second period when Marchand took a cross-ice pass from David Pastrnak and scored on a one-timer to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. Just 1:05 later, Marchand added another goal, cleaning up a rebound to make it 3-1 with his 10th goal of the season.

Pastrnak, Jordan Oesterle, and Justin Brazeau each contributed two assists for Boston.

Joe Sacco, filling in as interim coach after Jim Montgomery’s departure, improved his record to 6-2-0 since taking over. The Bruins displayed impressive energy despite their busy schedule.

Vlasic, the standout for the Blackhawks, scored his first goal of the season, and the 6-foot-6 defenseman’s offensive contributions were a bright spot in an otherwise tough night for Chicago.

The key moment came early in the third period when Geekie scored on a breakaway, giving the Bruins a 4-2 lead and effectively putting an end to any chance of a Chicago comeback.

Marchand’s two-goal performance extended his streak of scoring at least 10 goals in each of the last 15 seasons. He has been particularly successful against the Blackhawks, with 8 goals and 19 assists in 22 career games against them.
